Level 1 umpiring course

The VCU&SA will be running level 1 umpiring course from 22nd April, 2022 – 24th April, 2022. The details are as follows :- 
Friday, 22nd April 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Saturday, 23th April 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Sunday, 24th April 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Sunday’s session will be followed by a 1 hour exam commencing at 2:30 PM. If any member of your club is interested, then please send an email or call Harry Grewal or Angus Melder for more information . The deadline to register for this course is 10th April,2022 by 11:59PM (PST)

It has been conveyed to us by the VCU&SA that the fee of this course will be $50 and it needs to be paid in cash to the VCU&SA on the first day of the course itself. 

Also please ensure that your club complies with rule 33 of the Governing Rules :- 

“Effective at start of the 2020 season (when 50 & 45 over season begins*), every registered club with the BCMCL must have a Cricket Canada Level One Club umpire** in their club. This applies to Club Umpires for club assignments in divisions 2 & lower. The object of the plan is to improve umpire standards in these Divisions. Cooperation of all clubs is essential. The following plan will apply to all clubs even if they do not have any teams in Divisions 2 and lower. During the week before the season* clubs shall provide in writing, the names of their registered players who are qualified umpires**. These umpires are not obliged to be active members of the local Umpires Association. Failure to have those names & numbers of qualified members at any time during the regular season* will mean an annual fine of $400.00. Clubs with one (1) or two (2) teams shall have one (1) qualified umpire**. Clubs with three (3) teams shall have two (2) qualified umpires** Clubs with four (4) & five (5) teams shall have three (3) qualified umpires** Clubs with six (6) teams shall have four (4) qualified umpires** At any time during the season* if a qualified** member transfers or leaves the club, the club Secretary will inform BCMCL secretary. The BCMCL will arrange with the Umpires Association, to have a replacement certified within a reason time-(30 days). The Club will not be penalized if player has transferred and the delay in certification is due to finding availability to train a new umpire”.
